 When you drive down Mt. Baker Road and onto camp property, one of the first things you see in the field to your left is our Climbing Tower and Zipline. Did you know that the Orkila Climbing Tower is actually one of the tallest structures in the San Juans? It also has climbing routes on both the inside and outside of the tower, so rain or shine you can climb! We also have an array of routes that provide an appropriate challenge for climbers of any experience level. |
One of our most popular activities at Orkila is Wreckage. What is Wreckage?   Some would say that it's essentially Dodgeball, however at Orkila it is so so so much more.  Wreckage is Dodgeball but with 100 times more spirit; participants often create cheers or chants, paint their faces, and dawn their unit colors.  We play wreckage at camp to have fun, but also to come together and show unit pride as well as camp spirit. |
 Did you know that Camp Orkila has a Skateboard Camp? Skate Camp is open to boys AND girls entering grades 7-9 in the fall of all skill levels. The skaters spend the morning at the Orcas Island Skatepark - designed by Grindline Skateparks Inc and nationally renowned. In the afternoon, skaters participate in traditional camp activities such as high ropes or open rec but also have the opportunity to skate our wood ramps and elements set up in our Program Shelter. The Program Shelter skatepark serves as our rainy day alternative to a morning at the Orcas Skatepark. |

We have glitter, glue, googly eyes, paint, feathers, and so so so much more - all you need to do is find a rock on the beach! |

SHOW YOUR PRIDEHappy Birthday, Orkila Zipline! Around this time last year, our zipline was all geared up and ready to go!   After a year of zippers, the zipline at Orkila is still going strong and looking forward to many more years to come. |
The highest point in the San Juan Islands is atop Orcas Island's own Mt. Constitution. Located in Moran State Park, Mt. Constitution stands at 2,399 feet tall.  Orkila campers involved in teen leadership programs typically have the option of hiking Mt. Constitution for sunrise starting from our property at Twin Lakes.  The view is nothing short of breath-taking. |
  At Orkila we have an expansive Low Ropes course within our forest. A Low Ropes course consists of several elements that a facilitator uses to run team building exercises with a group. Although the name would imply it, not every Low Ropes element involves rope. Some highlights include: the Whale Watch element which is a giant platform on which a group must balance themselves, the Frog Hop which is a series of small stumps that may be used to have a group strategically line up on, and the Nitro Crossing that consists of a rope that participants use to swing from platform to platform. |
Our teen expedition programs are an unforgettable experience; biking, sailing, or kayaking around the San Juan Islands. Participants walk away from their expeditions with a huge sense of accomplishment. In order for a trip to be successful everyone needs to pitch in to help set up camp, prepare meals, and maintain the equipment.  A bilge pump is used to get water that may have ended up in a boat, out of it.  At the end of trip, participants return to camp and ring the bell underneath our dock to celebrate their trip. |
A huge part of spending time together as a cabin is playing together. Play supports the development of social skills and facilitates laughter.  Orkila staff have a huge knowledge base of group games as well as very creative minds that they put to good use with our campers on a daily basis.  Do you or your camper have a favorite camp game? |
