LDI CLASSICS and LDI 2.0

  

LDI Classics and LDI 2.0s come to camp every summer to practice and hone their leaderships skills! 

LDI Classics is a two week program at camp.

LDI 2.0 is a three week program at camp. 

These dedicated teens get the opportunity to work with younger kids in different camp units as well as with each other.

LDIs play an important role in camp - not only are they really cool people to hang out with, they have a positive impact on all the younger campers they interact with. LDIs inpsire imagination by creating an elvish world that the youngest campers in camp get to live in for an evening when they facilitate "Evening with the Elves".

  LDIs spend time in camp and on a trip though the San Juan Islands. LDI Classics go on either a 5 day kayaking trip or a 5 day sailing trip. LDI 2.0s go on a 7 day kayaking trip. While on trip, these teens get to stretch their leadership skills by acting as leader of the day with a co-leader.

KAYAK, BIKE AND SAIL

KAYAKING!!
An Orkila sea kayaking trip can last betweek one and four weeks! We've got the BELUGAS (San Juan Kayaking) - a one week trip, the SHAGGY MICE (Paddle Camp) - a two week trip and the ISLANDERS - a four week trip! These mighty adventurers paddle from island to island, exploring the natural beauty of the Salish Sea.

SAN JUAN BIKING!!
As you're driving along the road in San Juans, keep an eye out for the hard core SCULPINS! These fastidious bikers cruise down the road and see some of the most remote parts of the islands. And while you may not believe it, these groups see orca whales most often!

SAILING!!

The San Juans are known for their beautiful scenery and fine waters. At Orkila, we have two sailing programs! We have the SAN JUAN SAILORS - a one week trip, and the MARINERS - a two week trip! If you're up in the San Juan waters, keep a look out for this friendly bunch and say AHOY MATEY!

COUNSELORS IN TRAINING

 The CITs are a rowdy bunch! They come to camp for four weeks at a time and during their stay, they learn the ins and outs of being a camp counselor. CITs get the opportunity to shadow cabin counselors for a week and directly interact with younger campers in Traditional Camp.

Four weeks is a long time to be at camp, but those four weeks are MAGICAL! The CITs become as close as a family and fantastic memories are made together!

By becoming a Counselor In Training, these teens take on a great responsibility - they get the opportunity to create that CAMP MAGIC that every camper feels!

The impact of a CIT will last a lifetime in the mind of their campers!

ORKILA SUMMER INTERNS

To be an Orkila Summer Intern is an awesome experience! An OSI's time at Orkila is full and busy as they have two main areas of focus while they are at camp. Part of their time is spent in cabins with groups of kids and counselors where the OSIs are assistant cabin counselors. The other half of their time is spent working in different parts of camp so they can get an idea of what its like to run a camp like Orkila.

 Working in these ares is called Interdisciplinaries or IDs. Some of the ID areas are the office, Out Trip, the kitchen, and maintenance.


And of course, the OSIs definitely take time to GET WET, GET DIRTY!

OSIs are an integral part of camp and we couldn't run it with out these crazy people!!
