New Camp Orkila Country Store

After many years of service the Orkila Country Store is being replaced.  While many of us are sad to see the funky, well-used, fern roofed and much loved store go it had just become to run-down to save.

Demolition and construction will start next week, but before we tear it down for good we thought the new Orcas Island Fire recruits might get some training in.  On the day they were here it was too windy to burn, but they did practice their ax and chain saw techniques.

YRLs Volunteer at the Greenwood Food Bank!

Last weekend, Orkila's Year-Round Leaders volunteered at Volunteers of America's Greenwood Food Bank! We sorted through 33 boxes of donated food, and even got to munch on some donated food ourselves!

Orcas campaign kicks-off

Behind the Scenes - Lodge Floor Refinishing

Over the holidays while all of our campers are celebrating with their families the Camp Staff and our contractors are hard at work maintaining the spaces that are full of campers all the rest of the year.

Every year the Larry Norman Lodge Floors are coated and resealed.  About every ten years they are sanded down to bare wood.
