Closing Campfire!

The campfire last night marked the ending of summer 2012 at Orkila! It has been a fantastic summer filled with memories, friends and fun. All the staff here at camp hopes everyone who attended camp this summer had a blast! We hope to see you back at camp next summer!

Last Dork Dance!

Tonight was the last dork dance of the summer! Dorks from all across camp danced the night away and had a blast!

Introducing Digital Media Camp

Digital Media Camp as come to us here at Orkila for the first time this summer. Tonight while learning about exposure and lighting, campers got to experiment with glow sticks and flash lights. More pictures from our awesome young photographers will come soon!  

Session 8 Fun in the Sun!

Today was a fun day at camp. Campers did zip line, dock jump, dodge ball, pool parties and all kinds of fun summer activities. Its shaping up to be a great session!

Kicking Off Session 8!

Yesterday the last (but certainly not least) session began. Campers hopped off the bus and had a first great day! This week is going to be spectacular!

Basketball Court Clean-Up

Throughout the summer there are countless games of wreckage and basketball played on the basketball court. With all of these fun and games going on, the court is bound to become a bit dirty. So this week the C.I.T.s cleaned and repainted the map of the San Juan Islands on the court. In a short time, campers will enjoy the new look of the court!

Kayak Expedition Training

Before LDIs can adventure out and kayak around the San Juans they must first complete a flip test. In this video an instructor demonstrates proper technique for the test. Watch as she goes underwater and completes the test.

Session 6 Slideshow

The summer is starting to wind down, but the fun is not! Session 6 was full of games, friends, and fun in the sun, so please enjoy the slideshow!

All Camp Event Session 7

Last night was this week's all camp event. Campers gathered for a "Water Color War" which was a new twist on capture the flag. Each camper had an important role in the game, making for a really fun night. 

Session 7 Is Here!

Today a whole new bunch of campers arrived here at Camp Orkila. They stepped off the bus to wonderful weather and a line of staff waiting to greet them. We can't wait to watch them grow and learn throughout the week!

Island Trip

Yesterday we said goodbye to the Lizardhead unit as they departed on the Kwahnice for their island trip. Camp sends out units everyday to both Satellite and Sucia Island for one night camping trips. For many campers island trip is a highlight of their week because they have lots of time to relax, explore, play games and roast marshmallows
